20 things that grunge my gears when I get back from college

Parents just don't get it sometimes, do they?  You come back from college and it's hell at home!  They think you're still their "little child" which was playing in the garden and who was coming back before 12 on a night out!  There are just so many things that grudge my gears!  I wish they could understand but even when you explain it they nod ok, but they're still the same old them!
  1. You've just came back and the trip was exhausting, but instead of going to sleep you have to sit down and have a family dinner.  On top of it, you must pretend like you're having a great time, or else they start asking you what's wrong, and what happened.  At this point when you tell them the truth no one really believes you actually are tired!
  2. It's been a couple of days now, and you're back to the old routine.  A few friends heard you came back and call you for a night out.  Wait!  You can't go... unless you ask for permission first!  The tough part is when you're not getting it, because you have to stay at home and watch over your little brother, or even worse... because they're afraid what may happen to you while out!  News flash to all the parents in the world: We are alone!  All year long!  And when you finally come back home we need to get out once in a while.  And by once in a while, I mean at least twice a week!
  3. You finally get that night out permission!  You've just gotten all dressed up in that new outfit you've never wore before...  And your mum walks in, stares for a while and then starts complaining you need to change!  Because 'of course' you are not wearing a proper outfit!  After half an hour of arguing you realise it's not worth the effort, and you change to what she thinks it's appropriate.  IN the end, when you meet your friends you look as if you are still in high school!
  4. Oh, my!  That night lasted a bit longer than you've thought it would!  You are only half an hour late when you get home to realise that your parents are up and waiting with the police's number already typed on their mobile phones!
  5. You are grounded!!!  Yes!  You're an adult but your parents still think they can ground you, for being "late"!  I don't have to explain any more.  You just need to make sure that no one finds out or else your social life is probably over - again!
  6. You're finally free!  At least you had your laptop (no internet connection but even like that it's something).  You want to go out and meet up with your friends (the ones who are still talking to you) but no!  It's grandma-dinner day!  And for one more time, you have to wear what mum finds appropriate since it's a family meeting!
  7. It's 12 o'clock only...  But your parents are tired, and that's ok, they have to work, and you understand that.  But why on Earth do you have to go to sleep at the same time?
  8. It's not even 8 yet...  Yes of course I mean 8 in the morning!  And no it's not the alarm which wakes you up...  It's your mum who has to go to work and needs to make sure you remember you're washing the dishes that day...
  9. You're living at home during summer, but that doesn't mean that you have a salary!  At least that's what they tell you!  After all of these things you've been through, you don't get a single penny!  And now, you have to find a job, or you're screwed!
  10. After days of running from one horrible job to the other, you manage to find a place to hire you!  And now the fun starts!  You need to wake up at 6:30 every morning and work fro 8 hours!  Enjoy that part, it's the only thing that doesn't have to do with your parents!
  11. You know what really grudges my gears?  That moment when your mother sees you with a guy, or a girl, depending on the person, and she starts asking questions... in front of him!
  12. No!  The questions' part wasn't enough!  As if the situation is not embarrassing - to the point when you want to get your suitcase and slam the door behind you, praying to never have to get back - your mum or dad (well, that depends on the gender really, for me it's my mum) gives you the sex talk - for the 27th time!  And you have to sit there and listen, telling her you agree on whatever she's saying, no matter if you already know more than that...
  13. And at some point your parents found out about a guilty secret you have from college!  probably one of those night when you were hammered, and you did God knows what!  Ooops!  You may need to call the national security before it's too late - your mum is already spitting fire!
  14. Ok, they're not that bad!  They are a bid crazy - yes.  But not THAT bad!  In fact, some time they're really nice... or at least they're trying to be.  Even if that means more embarrassments for you - you know what I mean!
  15. You thought that you would have had a car during summer?  Sleep tight!  There is no freaking way you get a car just like that!  Unless you're really rich.  Or your parents have been brainwashed somehow, by a lovely race of Aliens, which sounds very extreme, but if you give it a second thought is not that far from reality!
  16. Of course they will keep their promise and lend you the old car for when you ned it - probably because no one likes that!
  17. And it broke down!  You're in the middle of the street and everyone around you is swearing - at you of course!  With the last patience you have you pull it at the corner and call your dad...
  18. ...Who is yelling at you!  As if it's your fault that the car is as old as your great-grandmother!
  19. After all those little situations the one thing you want is some ice-cream and a spoon.  You open the fridge...  to find out that you're home again!  And at home "we all eat healthily"!
  20. With everything being completely wrong, and your parents refusing to admit you've finally grown up, you sit in front of your computer screen and you write a post about how much you want to go back to college.  Don't!  Unless your parents - like mine - do not have a blog on their own!  If that's not the case and they do have one, then I'm warning you, you're being spied on - for sure!
I could keep on writing, but I'm quite scared my parents may find out this one!  Naha, not really!  I've had the "I grew up - accept it" talk, and it didn't work!  After a while though you get used to it.  The good part is that summer is shorter than the rest of the year, and soon you'll get back to college!
